We will walk you through what is legal for your vehicle before any film goes on.

Window Tinting Questions, Answered

What is the legal window tint limit in New Brunswick?

New Brunswick law requires your windshield and both front side windows to transmit at least 70% of visible light (70% VLT). Rear side windows and the rear window have no VLT restriction, which is where the 5%, 15%, 20%, 35% and 50% options above apply. New Brunswick is also the only province in Canada that permits aftermarket film on the full windshield, provided that 70% minimum is met. We cover the fines and the MVI inspection wrinkle in our guide to New Brunswick window tint laws. If you are not sure which percentage to ask for, our guide to window tint percentages covers what each one looks like on the glass and which are legal on which windows.

How long does window tinting take to install?

A standard sedan’s rear side windows and rear window typically take two to three hours. A full vehicle including the front doors takes longer, and a curved rear windshield that needs heat-shrinking adds time. If old film has to be removed first, add one to two hours on top. We’ll give you a realistic time when you book rather than a best case.

Will ceramic tint interfere with my phone, GPS or radio signal?

No. Ceramic and nano-ceramic films use non-conductive ceramic particles, and carbon film uses non-metallic carbon particles. Neither affects cellular, GPS, Bluetooth, keyless entry or satellite radio. The signal problem people remember comes from older metallic film, which reflects heat using an actual metal layer and reflects radio frequencies along with it.

How long before I can roll my windows down after tinting?

Leave them up for three to five days. The film needs that time for the mounting solution to fully evaporate and the adhesive to cure against the glass. Rolling a window down early is the most common way a good install gets ruined. You may also see slight haze or small water pockets during this period — that is normal and clears as it cures.

Can you remove old bubbling or purple tint before installing new film?

Yes, and it is priced separately because it is genuinely labour-intensive. Old adhesive has to come off the glass completely, and on a rear window the defroster grid lines have to survive the process intact. That work cannot be rushed. When you are comparing quotes between shops, check whether removal is included, because it is the most commonly excluded line item.

Do you tint windshields?

Yes. New Brunswick permits film on the full windshield as long as the glass still transmits at least 70% of visible light, which makes it the only province in Canada where this is legal. A quality 70% VLT ceramic film on the windshield rejects meaningful heat and UV without changing how the glass looks. We will not install anything darker than the legal limit on a windshield or front door.

How much does window tinting cost?

Nano-ceramic packages start at $150, with the final price depending on film tier, vehicle size and whether old film needs removing.
